Jan Tana
This tan is now favoured within some federations as it provides far less mess at venues, as the 'wet' tans are no longer allowed. Application is easy. You can see where it is going on as it goes on dark and dries quickly so no bits are missed. The number of coats varies from each person. 3-4 was enough for myself.
Opinions vary on Jan Tana. People seem to love it or hate it. For myself I didn't find it suitable. I had trialled it prior to the show to ensure no reaction occurred but felt that on the day other tans respond better with my skin and 'show off' my physique to it's best level.Claire Harper using Pro Tan Competition Color
So to brief, at present the best method for myself is:
- 3-4 coats of Pro-Tan competition colour the day before a show.
- 1 Layer of Pro-Tan stage finish 30mins before going on stage, followed by a light patting of the glaze (the picture on the home page of my store is this method)
Previously I would layer Pro-Tan competition colour as above. Apply 1 layer of Dream Tan Instant color before bed, 1 layer in the morning, and then re-apply at the venue. Patting it in to bring up the sheen (this is most other competition pictures on my site)
The key thing to tanning is remembering everyone is different. So to some extent it is trial and error. However don't be afraid of being too dark! Get advice where needed. You will need to be far darker than any beauticians spray tan or bottled self-tan.
