Vegas here we come!!!
27th June 2011
What an exciting couple of weeks! The biggest news being.....
Team Grenade are set to rock Las Vegas at this years Mr Olympia!!!!! Grenade are taking the team over which is the best motivation you could possibly have!
Competing there last year was a fantastic experience but to be part of the Exhibition for the biggest event in bodybuilding is going to be amazing!!
Behind the scenes there are some exciting things being planned for when we are there and myself and the rest of the team can't wait, but for you guys you will just have to wait and see!
Needless to say, now that it has all been confirmed, training has definitely stepped up a notch. It's provided that extra push to train hard as it's hardly the place I want my picture taken looking shabby lol!
Starting on the Reflex range has been great and I absolutely love their Reflex Whey Refresh. It's so handy and tastes fab. I love mixing it in with my morning smoothie which at the moment usually consists of 1/3 of Whey Refresh, 2 scoops of instant whey, banana, strawberries and a splash of pure orange juice. Delicious!
I must admit to being terrible at remembering to take the ZMA on some nights and remembering to take kre-alkalyn on any non training days but I am getting better, honest! I definitely need to become more structured with my day and I know this will improve. I should definitely know by now that consistency is key.
The biggest improvement over the past couple of weeks has been leg training. I'm back to training them every 5 days and have gone from performing walking lunges with 5kg (a big drop for me) to 20kg so the next challenge is to up the intensity to car park lunges (for anyone who watched me with Neil and Dean on the Active Channel you will know what I'm on about!) It's great having the feeling back in my glutes again, it's strange how you can miss such a horrid pain lol.
Poorest/slowest thing is shoulders. They just feel pathetic at the moment but I think this is more down to the fact that this time last year I was doing around 4-6 hours a week easily on pole and another 3-4 on trapeze and due to opening the studios and starting Smartshake uk this has dropped considerably.
The guys at Muscle Mayhem have been great at getting me back on track though, and I'm now fully kitted out with my wrist straps and vest tops, ready to do them proud. It's been so good to finally find a gym near to where I am based. I've always trained at Olympic Gym, Eccles and XXL Marple as they are fantastic gyms, had everything I needed and I could always get to them due to where I was working but since moving I had struggled to get anywhere that suited what I was after. It's only been open two months so the time was perfect!
On a random note for anyone who takes Cherry Active - mix it in with natural yoghurt, gorgeous!
And anyone who tans all year round and spends a fortune on some of the bigger brands, I have discovered a far cheaper alternative that is actually better! If you are near a B & M (I hadn't been in one for ages!) They have a product called St Moritz (I wonder what they are copying??!!) £2.99 and goes on better than any false tan I have tried. I still swear by Versaspa for spray tans but as a self application tan this stuff is brilliant and so quick to apply!
**Gotta love sharing random but handy bits of info***
So there you have it for this week. I'm off to Vegas with Team Grenade in September and training and diet are getting back on track. I'm due to go back to a few sports I've not done for a while this week so I will take some pictures and post them on the next blog - give you all a chuckle if nothing else!
